1) Karen mentioned the fridge–we should keep working on getting a fridge for the coffeeshop so that non-coca cola beverages can be sold.
2) Kat mentioned the blog–we should use it!
3) Asha brought up the new cooking space to be built in EV3, appliances have been bought, we are going to begin conversation with Dean Deep to see how we can make a student-run cafe a reality! Some ideas: a design contest/business plan contest for the cafe; hire someone to create a business plan; make it an interfaculty teaching/learning space; link it to some branding about “innovation” and “food security”…a centre for food security studies at UW?
4) WESEF and ESS funding–we should tap into this for funding for things such as: a fridge, a permanent student position
5) Cooking Workshops
-to do: set a date, find someone to facilitate
-possible venues: Zehr’s, college kitchens on campus, the working centre,
churches?
-Working Centre Celebration of Foods Cooking Group for Newcomers–
Nov.10th, share a recipe on cooking with squash, local, seasonal
vegetables, etc. Kat will contact Norma Medina to set this up.
6) Cook book
-more on this next meeting
Next Meeting? Next Thursday at 12:30pm? Monday at noon? Set up a doodle?
